मेरी पहचान आप से पापा,
क्या कहूं,आप मेरे लिए क्या हो,
रहने को है पैरों के नीचे ये जमीं,
पर मेरे लिए तो मेरा आसमान आप हो।
If there is a most important man's position in the structure of any woman, it is that of the father. Every woman takes some inspiration in life from her father. It is the father who becomes the first support on the path of life. So fathers often have the power to turn a woman's life around and make radical changes in her life. When a man, being a father, understands the existence of Durga Shakti in his daughter, that Shakti is honored the most. When a woman receives such encouragement from her father, the Durga Shakti within her achieves something that she might not have been able to think of on her own. This is the story of two such Durgashaktis, who with the support and encouragement of their fathers have overcome tough challenges with ease. Today these pairs of Bap-Lekis have become the standard of Durga Shakti for their unprecedented journey.
The story begins in 1977 when Ajit Bajaj reached the 17,353 ft (5289 m) Friendship Peak at the age of 12. He then became the first Indian to cross the Polar Trilogy. (polar trilogy means skiing to the North Pole, South Pole and across the Greenland icecap) Also, the Government of India honored him with Padma Shri in the year 2012 for his contribution to adventure sports. His father's fame was ingrained in Diya's mind from childhood. Her father's achievements were helping her somewhere. Diya set a goal to follow in their footsteps. In May 2011, at the age of just 17, Dia completed the Trans Greenland Skiing Expedition. She became the youngest woman in the world to do so. Apart from this, Ajit and Diya became the first Indians to ski on the ice of Greenland. But this journey does not stop here.
Diya and Ajith set another goal in front of them which is to climb Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world, which no Indian father-daughter has achieved so far. Diya set Everest as her goal to convey the message to the whole of India that even if she is a girl, she can take her family's name to the top. On May 16, 2018, Dia Bajaj and Ajit Bajaj created a new history by scaling Mount Everest. Diya showed that a daughter can reach the highest heights of the world by keeping her father's role model in front of her. Diya and Ajith set the record of scaling 7 highest peaks in 7 continents of the world on 5th June 2022 in the same year. They became the first father-daughter pair from Asia to achieve this record. It would not be a stretch to say that Diya is a modern form of Durga Shakti as a daughter who shows that she is not inferior to her father.
Another inspiring father-daughter story begins in 2017 at the Indian Navy's Eazimala base in South India where the passing out parade of officers who had just joined the Indian Navy was underway. But this parade was special for one thing, Kamini Daundiyal was a part of the parade today. This parade was very important and special for her. Because the dream she had seen for many years was actually coming true today. For the past 30 years her father was in the Indian Navy guarding India's maritime borders today following her father's footsteps she became a part of the Indian Navy to guard India's maritime borders.
Kamini Daundiyal completed her education from Navy School in Mumbai and Visakhapatnam. She had secured first rank in her school in class 10th examination. Then Electrical and Electronic Engineering passed with 94% percentage. Kamini, who has always excelled in studies, got a job in a prestigious company like Accenture in the first shot. She worked there for 7 months. But her mind was not there, the Indian Navy was marking her. She was fascinated by the discipline in which she had seen her father serve India for the last 30 years and by the Indian Navy. She took the Services Selection Board (SSB) exam after the decision was made to admit women to the Indian Navy. Kamini was among the 5 girls selected in it. She got admission in Armament cadre of Navy. She appeared for SSB again from another centre. She also got admission in the Naval Academy. She was awarded the Best 'Seamanship' award at the Indian Navy Academy and stood third among all training officers.
For Chief Petty Officer First Class (MCPO 1) Umeshchandra Daundiyal, the moment was very important. Following in his footsteps, his daughter had left Sukh's job and accepted the path of national service. Women are nowhere behind in India's defense preparedness. His daughter Sub Lt Kamini Daundiyal today showed that a pair of men can protect the borders of countries with a gun in hand. When the father-daughter duo embarked on national service, simultaneously donning white Indian Navy uniforms and making their tagline 'Sham No Varun', it was a moment of pride not just for Kamini but for the entire nation. Sub Lt. Kamini Daundiyal has put a unique form of Durga Shakti in front of everyone, breaking the framework of the Indian social system.
Sub Lt. Kamini Daundiyal and Dia Bajaj both follow in their father's footsteps and present us with a new look of Durga Shakti as their partner portrays a unique bond of father-daughter relationship. For any woman, her father is the first role model. Both of them have disproved the belief that being a son means that he can carry forward the importance of his father's work. That is why I feel that both of them are a form of Durga Shakti with their achievements. My biggest salute to the achievements of Kamini Daundiyal and Dia Bajaj. Also to his father who gave him free sky to set foot on his sky and gave equal support to his father. All the best for this new form of Durga Shakti on her journey ahead and to scale more peaks.
