Today the whole world is celebrating Women's Day. On this day in 1908, 15,000 women marched in New York City to demand the right to vote. This day marked a turning point in the history of the United States and in the world around women. The foundation was laid to give women an equal place in the patriarchal society. Today is celebrated as Women's Day in his memory. In the history of India, this woman has been confined to childbirth for many decades. But over the years, that attitude has changed. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. This is why it is so important to know the same femininity that women in India today have done for the country, regardless of their own lives, for the sake of patriotism.

About 51 years ago today, the trumpet of war between India and Pakistan was blown at Bhuj in Gujarat. The war between India and Pakistan started on December 3, 1971 to create Bangladesh. Seeing that India's mercury was getting heavier somewhere, Pakistan, realizing its nature, launched air strikes on India to open the front on the western side of India. It was the night of December 8, 1971, when a Sarbe jet from Pakistan dropped a Napalm bomb and completely destroyed the runway at Bhuj. This runway in Bhuj is only 197 km away from Sardi. Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik noticed that Indian Air Force aircraft would not be able to take off if Pakistan was attacked again by Pakistani aircraft. Pakistani planes were flying over India's border. To prevent them, the Bhuj runway needed to be rehabilitated as soon as possible.

With Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik and two accompanying officers, 50 Indian Air Force personnel and 60 Defense Security Corps personnel, the runway could not be re-filled. That is why the option of enlisting the help of people for this work came up. But when the war starts, bombs fall from the sky and what civilians will help in the enemy's target. The Indian women who came running in such a difficult situation. Not one, not two but about 300 women decided to sacrifice their lives for this cause and for the country. In a country where only men can do manual labor, in a country where only men can do two hands with the enemy, or where it is the duty of men to serve the country as a whole. In the same country, uneducated, poor and childless women took a step forward to defend the motherland.

Since sunrise on December 9, 1972, 300 women have been building runways with the help of Indian Air Force. These were not ordinary events or times. The Pakistani plane was hovering in the Indian sky. In a situation where a bomb would fall on us at any moment, these women were bound to pierce the ideology of the society about us. From sunrise to sunset, those 300 women were working for the country without taking a single grain of food. During the four days of war, those 300 women were fighting for the country, leaving their families behind. Some of the children were just a few months old. All this for the sake of the country.

On December 12, 1972, at 4 pm, Indian aircraft began flying over the runway at Bhuj. Just four days later, on December 16, 1972, 93,000 Pakistani soldiers surrendered conditionally and the war ended. Lion's contribution to Pakistan's defeat was shared by the 300 women in Bhuj, India, who once again showed the world what women can do if they come together.

Today, as the whole world celebrates Women's Day on March 8 to commemorate the march of those 15,000 women, every Indian should also remember the patriotism of those 300 women. In a small village like Bhuj, in 1972, the flame of women's self-respect, sacrifice, patriotism and equality was ignited by those 300 women. Today, on the occasion of Women's Day, I would like to dedicate this day to the 300 women who are aware of their extraordinary deeds. This story of women will surely inspire many women today and make every man aware of what women can do.

Footnote: -  On the same story A film called Bhuj:-The Pride of India came and went in 2021. But it is true that this film never managed to awaken the flame of their sacrifice.
