As we engage in the struggles and difficulties of Earth, a man-made leap to another planet in this universe is exploring life on another planet that existed millions of years ago. This second planet is Earth's neighbor 'Mars'. Currently, NASA's Perseverance Rover is exploring for life in a rock called Jezoro in the Delta River basin. The Perseverance Rover was launched on Mars in February 2021. Many of you may have seen it coming down live. The rover has traveled about 11 kilometers on Mars for more than a year. Now he has begun his important work. Millions of years ago, there was water on Mars. Mars also had rivers like Earth. One of them is the Delta River.

Mars was in the Sun's habitat zone millions of years ago. (The habitable zone is the distance from the Sun where the temperature is neither too high nor too low. Water may be in liquid form.) Although water is not in the form of a river on Mars today, the character of the river created by that water exists. We know that water carries with it a lot of mud and many things. This is called sedimentary deposition in technical language. The chances of life in it are very high. For this reason, NASA has launched its Perseverance Rover into the Delta River basin.

So this Perseverance Rover has started a series of inventions. Some shocking events have taken place in his journey. On May 28, 2022, the rover set aside a 5-centimeter area of soil and set out to observe the rock inside. (We can see this place in the photo below) According to the scientists, the sedimentary deposition is clearly visible here and it has a very high probability of having life or finding some of its threads. It is a matter of pride for Indians that this soil research is being carried out by an Indian-British scientist. The name of this scientist is Sanjeev Gupta. He was born in Agra, India and at the age of 5 his family settled in England. Sanjeev Gupta is an internationally renowned geologist who has been tasked with finding life in a Martian soil sample.

The Perseverance Rover, built at a cost of over 3 billion US dollars, is a masterpiece of human technological prowess. It has 43 pencil shaped tubes that can be filled with soil samples. About 30 of these tubes will be brought back to Earth by NASA from 2030 to 2033. Two vehicles are being built with the help of the European Union at a cost of 5 billion US dollars. One of these spacecraft will land on Mars and fly into the orbit of Mars with 30 tubes in the abdomen of the Perseverance Rover. The other spacecraft will be matched with the orbit of Mars and then it will be handed over to him. This second spacecraft will then land on Earth with very important soil samples. An Indian-British scientist has been entrusted with the task of verifying these specimens.

Perseverance Rover has discovered some amazing things in its journey as written above. One of them is a piece of thermal blanket stuck in the rocks of Mars by the camera of Perseverance Rover. (In the photo we can see this piece stuck in the rocks of Mars) NASA has clarified that this piece is the thermal blanket of the space suit used while landing on Mars. Many have ridiculed NASA on Mars but man has started doing dirt. Many had wondered how a man-made piece could have landed on Mars when no human had ever landed on it.

Perseverance Rover has just captured another startling sight. A round stone (roughly the size of a football) on the tip of a rock is captured by a rover's camera. (You can see this rock in the photo below) According to NASA, this rock has been in this position for more than 3 billion years. This photo has once again sparked the discussion of aliens. This is because the chances of the stone remaining natural in this way are very rare. Many have suggested that the tune may have been set by an alien. But all these possibilities have been ruled out by NASA. The Perseverance Rover was carrying a small helicopter called Ingenuity in its belly. This helicopter flew 28 times in the atmosphere of Mars. In the first week of May, however, the helicopter lost contact with the Perseverance Rover. The solar panel of the helicopter was covered in dust due to a dust storm on Mars and lost contact with the Perseverance Rover due to power outage. However, this helicopter was built to carry only 5 flights. In fact, with 28 flights, it has performed much better than expected.

NASA hopes that the Perseverance Rover will open many screens of Mars' past in the near future. Today, man-made objects from a distance of 202 million kilometers are searching for life on other planets. Although we do not know the intricacies of this, we should congratulate the many anonymous researchers who have come to understand these technical capabilities of human beings and put them into practice. Because these achievements are not achieved in one day. Sometimes it costs a living. My heartfelt salute to all those anonymous researchers.
